Dizziness can be mechanical, neurological, vestibular or all three

Vertigo, chronic dizziness, balance problems and PPPD support

If you feel like the room spins, the floor moves, your body drifts or your balance system never fully resets, you know how disruptive dizziness can be. Many people also notice neck tension, headaches, visual overwhelm or concussion history in the same story.

Back to Health. Back to You. Upper cervical care is not the answer to every dizzy patient. But for selected people, the upper neck is absolutely part of the problem.

Why dizziness patients search upper cervical pages

The brain relies on input from the eyes, inner ears and cervical spine to orient balance. When those systems stop syncing well, dizziness can become persistent, positional and hard to describe.

That is especially true after whiplash, concussion, migraine, prolonged guarding or motion-sensitive flare cycles. In those cases, upper cervical evaluation can matter alongside vestibular, ENT or neurological evaluation.

The goal is not to ‘push through’ dizziness. The goal is to understand what keeps feeding it.

Welcome Back Chiropractic serves Austin, Westlake, Lakeway, Westlake Hills, Spicewood, Marble Falls and surrounding communities. For complex cases, the goal is clarity, not overclaiming.

Patterns we often hear

Symptoms people often describe

  • Spinning vertigo, rocking, swaying or disequilibrium
  • Visual motion sensitivity or grocery-store overwhelm
  • Neck-triggered dizziness or dizziness with head turning
  • Brain fog, nausea, headache or motion sickness
  • Symptoms lingering after concussion, whiplash or migraine

What patients usually want

  • A doctor who looks at the whole picture, not just one label.
  • A gentle approach that does not unnecessarily stir up a sensitive system.
  • Honest guidance about whether conservative care fits — or whether a referral matters first.
  • A plan that respects real life: work, driving, screens, sleep, family, recovery and function.

Why upper cervical care gets searched

When the top of the neck is irritated, overloaded or not tolerating motion well, the symptom spillover can be surprisingly broad. That is why so many people with “mystery” head, neck, dizziness and nervous-system complaints start looking for precise upper cervical help.

What supportive care looks like

We want to know whether you have had ENT, vestibular or neurological evaluation — and whether the upper neck reliably aggravates symptoms. If it does, gentle upper cervical support may reduce one key source of mismatch in the system.

Some patients also need vestibular rehabilitation, which is exercise-based therapy designed to improve balance and dizziness tolerance. We are comfortable when care is collaborative instead of competitive.

Our promise on complex cases

We would rather position your case honestly than oversell what one office can do. If conservative upper cervical support makes sense, great. If you need imaging review, neurology, cardiology, vestibular rehab, PT, dental/TMJ work, pediatric care or neurosurgical guidance first, we will tell you.

Get urgent care for dizziness with

  • Stroke-like symptoms, new weakness, facial droop or slurred speech
  • Sudden hearing loss, severe headache or continuous vomiting
  • Recent significant trauma
  • Repeated falls or blackouts

Frequently asked questions

What is PPPD?

PPPD is a chronic dizziness disorder where people often feel persistently off-balance, especially when upright or in visually busy environments.

Can neck motion really provoke dizziness?

Yes. Cervical input is part of balance. In some patients, neck motion or neck irritation clearly worsens dizziness.

Should I also consider vestibular rehab?

Often, yes. Some dizzy patients do best with both vestibular therapy and upper cervical support.
